According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, all wheat production in Idaho totaled 116 million bushels, up 8 percent from 2010. Average yield of 82.8 bushels per acre was up from 79.9 bushels per acre in 2010. Acres harvested totaled 1.40 million, up 56,000 acres from 2010. Idaho's 2011 winter wheat crop totaled 63.1 million bushels from 770,000 harvested acres, up 8 percent from 2010's 58.2 million bushels. The average yield of 82.0 bushels per acre is unchanged from 2010. The state's spring wheat production totaled 52.1 million bushels from 620,000 harvested acres, up 9 percent from 2010. Average yield of 84.0 bushels per acre was up 6 bushels from 2010 and a new record high for Idaho. Idaho's 2011 durum wheat production totaled 759,000 bushels from 11,000 harvested acres, down 38 percent from 2010. The average yield for durum was 69.0 bushels per acre, up 8 bushels from 2010. Barley production in Idaho totaled 46.5 million bushels from 500,000 harvested acres, up 8 percent from 2010's production. Idaho led the United States in barley production in 2011. The average yield of 93.0 bushels per acre was up 1 bushel from 2010. All dry hay production for Idaho totaled 5.07 million tons from 1.35 million harvested acres. This compares to 5.46 million tons from 1.47 million acres in 2010. The average dry hay yield for Idaho was 3.76 tons per acre, up from 3.71 tons last year. All haylage and greenchop production totaled 1.17 million tons from 100,000 harvested acres. Canola production totaled 38.9 million pounds from 18,500 harvested acres. This compares to 33.1 million pounds from 18,400 harvested acres in 2010. |
