I am looking for Christmas memories (winter, Thanksgiving, weather-related also fine!) to run in the paper through December. E-mail me at LPalmer@idahocountyfreepress.com à Teaching Sign Language to Infants and Toddlers, the Lewis-Clark State College Grangeville Outreach class, has been rescheduled for Nov. 20 and Dec. 4, 6 to 7 p.m. each night, at Grangeville Elementary Middle School library. Cost is $30 and is open to those 8 years old and older. GEMS teacher Meleah McCulley will instruct the course. Call coordinator Louise Stolz at 983-2164 or e-mail LStolz@lcsc.edu to register or with questions. à Grangeville High School's FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) will be producing a cookbook for sale with all proceeds benefiting the program. There is no cost to submit a recipe and these will be used for the cookbook. Be sure to include name and town you live in with recipes. Residents from the community and their family and friends, as well, are invited to submit recipes of any type to Daryl Torgerson, GHS FCCLA, 910 South D Street, Grangeville, ID 83530 or e-mail them to torgersond@sd244.org by Monday, Dec. 1. FCCLA members will sell the cookbook after it is compiled and published. For questions call Torgerson at 983-0580. à A benefit spaghetti dinner and silent auction are set for George and Judy Elliot Nov. 22, 4 to 8 p.m., Grangeville Elks Lodge. George owns a small engine repair business in Grangeville and recently had surgery to have a brain tumor removed. He is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Financial help is sought for this longtime area family. To donate or for questions call Roger or Kim Nuxoll at 983-2335 or Highland Realty at 983-2935. à The Idaho County Food Bank is in dire need of food for the winter and Pine Tree Community Credit Union is ready to help. Drop all your nonperishable food items off at the Main Street business in Grangeville from now through Dec. 15. Cash donations will also be forwarded to the food bank's account at U.S. Bank. à Riggins now has a veterinary service in town. Riverbend Veterinary Services with Elisa Parker DMV as the veterinarian has set up a vet service for the Riggins area. Just call her and she will come to your house. Though her current cell phone is not working well, call her at 509-240-5092, leave a message, and she will get back to you. à In its seventh annual "Teens and Entrepreneurship" poll, Junior Achievement has found that 13-18 year olds are less interested in starting their own businesses than they were a year ago. In 2007, 67 percent of teens indicated an interest in entrepreneurship; in 2008 that number declined to 60 percent-perhaps as a result of the stagnating economy. The release of the poll results coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week, an effort to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit of young people everywhere (www.unleashingideas.org). à BeginAgains Thrift Store will open Nov. 21 in the basement of the Elks in Grangeville. These books are on sale at the Bicentennial Historical Museum in Grangeville on Thursdays, 1:30 to 5 p.m., and are also available at The Canyon House in White Bird. The society will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 9, the basement of the museum, at noon. This is a potluck meeting and all are welcome.
