Fit and Fall Proof classes scheduled
Classes in area communities

Local adults -- and especially seniors -- are invited to take part in the Fit and Fall Proof Exercise classes sponsored by Public Health - Idaho North Central District.
   Classes are as follows:
Ã Craigmont City Hall, 109 East Main St., Craigmont: classes are set for 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Ã Groaner's Fitness, 507 West Main St., Grangeville: classes are set for 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., on Mondays and Fridays.
Ã Nez Perce Senior Center, 501 Cedar St., Nez Perce: classes are set for 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., on Mondays and Thursdays.
Ã Pleasant View Baptist Church, Corner of Main and Everest Streets, White Bird: classes are set for 2 to 3 p.m., on Mondays and Thursdays.
Ã Salmon River Community Church Mains St., Riggins: classes are 10 to 11 a.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an older adult is treated in a hospital emergency room for a fall every 18 seconds, and every 35 minutes an older adult dies as a result of a fall-related injury. In Idaho, there is an average of 113 fall-related deaths among seniors each year. Taking precautions to prevent winter falls can help reduce this number and improve the quality of life for many seniors.
