| Letter of Thanks - Raspberry Festival |
|---|
A sincere thank you to the chairpersons and to all of the volunteers, oblates and sisters who contributed to making the 16th Annual Raspberry Festival on Aug. 3 another success. An estimated 2,700 people were in attendance to enjoy the day. It is not possible to list all the names of the volunteers involved, but it is through the generous support of all of them that the festival continues to be a significant event for the benefit of The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude. Thank you all for your dedication. The Raspberry Festival is an important fund-raiser that allows The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude to continue to provide a repository for historical artifacts that reflect the history and tell the story of the settlement of North Central Idaho. The museum has a collection of some 70,000 artifacts with about 11,000 on display. Artifacts pertaining to mining, farming, ranching, medicine, weaponry, the Nez Perce and the monastic settlement of the Camas Prairie are included. In addition, the Rhoades Emmanuel Memorial contains an exquisite collection of rare Asian and European items. It is this incredible collection and the facility that houses it that benefits from the Raspberry Festival. The festival has become a regional event that is attracting participants from throughout the Pacific Northwest. With the continued support of all, the 17th Annual Raspberry Festival on the first Sunday in August 2009 promises to be even better. Thank you again. Lyle Wirtanen Director |
