We may just have the best working county commission and sheriff's office in recent history of Idaho County.
Skip Brandt brings his legislative know-how which gives our commission a whole lot better understanding and ability to deal with the state on matters of concern to both. None of the candidates has his experience; so I think we had better just keep him and Jim Chmelik in their present positions by re-electing both of them.
As to the sheriff's office; the candidates all have their opinions as to what is needed most; and of course, they are the ones to do the job. I can't see where any one of them can improve on the sheriff's department we have right now. Doug Giddings has brought Idaho County one of the best organized and directed sheriff's departments we have seen in many years; in my opinion. I can see no reason to even consider anyone else. In short, while you may not always agree with every decision these men make; they all do an outstanding job. As the old adage goes, "If it ain't broke -- don't fix it."
