Dale Rupp, 87; Roberta Thomas; Melvin Jones


   Dale L. Rupp, 87
   
Kamiah, Idaho
   Dale Lawrence Rupp, 87, entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, in Lewiston, Idaho. He was born in Taylorsville, Utah, on March 12, 1924, to Benjamin Harrison and Nettie Elizabeth Brown Rupp, the sixth of seven children. He grew up on a farm in Taylorsville and learned the value of work.
   He married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Lucile Nielsen, on June 19, 1946, in Salt Lake City, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of eight children. He was a successful farmer in Taylorsville, Utah; Meridian, Idaho; and Kamiah, Idaho, where he moved in 1972.
   He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including bishop, branch president, counselor in the bishopric and counselor in the stake presidency. During his service as the branch president in Kamiah he directed fund-raising events which helped to build the Kamiah LDS Church.
   He enjoyed participating in sports and watching his family participate, boating and water skiing with his family and traveling. In his later years, he and his wife traveled all around the United States with many different friends and family members.
   He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Kent (Jolene), Monty (Garla) both of Kamiah, Gary (Tynagh) of Homedale, Idaho, and Kelly (Tanya) of Middleton, Idaho; and daughters, Connie Boone (George), of Snowflake, Ariz., Rhonda Vanchiere (Mike) of Lindon, Utah, and Debbie Breshears (Mark) of Kamiah; a son-in-law, Hyrum Boone of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and one sister, Louise Erickson, of Murray, Utah. He is also survived by 68 grandchildren and 118 great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Boone; one granddaughter, Amber Rupp; and his parents; three sisters and two brothers.
   Viewing was Saturday, Jan. 28, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kamiah Ward, Highway 12, Kamiah, Idaho. The funeral service followed at the church. Interment was at the Kamiah City Cemetery, Kamiah.
   Trenary Funeral Home of Kooskia assisted the family.

Thomas, 74
   
Lakeside, Tenn.
   Roberta Holes Thomas, 74, passed away Dec. 30, 2011, of cancer at Lakeside, Tenn.
   She is survived by her husband, Vern; two children, Sharon and Doug; and two grandchildren, all of the Lakeside area; and her sister, Jean Cash of Missoula, Mont.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris Holes of Grangeville.
   Melvin Jones, 79
   
Stites, Idaho
   Melvin Jones, 79, of Stites, Idaho, died Jan. 27, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Cottonwood, Idaho. Melvin was born June 25, 1932, in Gifford, Idaho, to Plennie and Hattie (Presell) Jones.
   Melvin attended and graduated from Orofino High School in 1951 and then served in the Army from 1952 to 1961.
   Melvin met the love of his life, Doris Ellen Lytle, in 1954 and they were married Dec. 2, 1955. Melvin was a woodsman, rancher, a farmer and an avid gardener. Melvin and Doris made their home in Stites. Melvin was an active member of the Stites Baptist Church.
   Melvin was preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin Deane Rollins.
   Melvin is survived by his wife, Doris, at their Stites home; daughter, Genevieve (Leland) Rollins of Stites; son, Delvin (Tammy) Jones of Round Mountain, Nev.; son, David (Debbie) Jones of Stites; daughters, Dianna Jones and Deanna Jones of Stites; grandsons, Casey and Megan Jones of Nampa, Idaho, Jay Jones of Caldwell, Idaho, and Scott Rollins of Stites; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary McArthur of Lewiston, Idaho, and Joyce Payton of Kamiah, Idaho.
   Graveside inurnment with military honors will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Kooskia, Idaho. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Stites Baptist Church followed by a covered dish dinner at the church.
   Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. Trenary Funeral Home of Kooskia, is assisting the family.
