Jim was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Cottonwood and attended schools there. He was inducted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in July 1946 after having served in the Pacific Theater. Jim's greatest enjoyment was working in his timber ground, the Sarbacher Place, called "the woods" on the Cottonwood Butte, which his brothers called Jim's stump farm.
