In April, Mayor Glenna McClure, upon recommendation of the Riggins City Council, signed a Proclamation that May 15 would be Savage Pride Day in the City of Riggins in recognition of the outstanding athletic accomplishments of the 2012-13 Salmon River Savage football and boys basketball teams, which includes state championships earned by both. At the May 13 Riggins City Council meeting, Councilor Roy Akins presented a plaque to Coach Shepherd and Principal Richerson, along with a group of Salmon River Savage athletes. Pictured (L-R) are Riggins Mayor Glenna McClure, Riggins City Council Representative Roy Akins, Jimmy Shepherd, Nolan Richerson, Paula Tucker, Coach Charlie Shepherd, Leighton VanderEsch, Charlie Shepherd, Darwin VanderEsch, Brandon Ratcliff, and Principal Deb Richerson.
