'A Photographic History of Idaho County'

White Bird
by Anna Holden

WHITE BIRD -- The White Bird Volunteer Fire Department meets Wednesday, Jan. 31, 7 p.m. at the IOOF Hall for their regularly scheduled training meeting and all interested local citizens are welcome to attend. Our fire department assisted the Salmon River Rural Fire Department on a grease fire this past Saturday though the fire was out pretty much by the time our equipment and firefighters arrived, but the experience is excellent for our new department.
Has everyone seen Marion and Gad Gortsema's new car? It's a beaut! The color is that new pale, sparkly sage with smooth, soft, light beige leather seats and a very fancy dashboard.
I hear the White Bird Gun Club practicing on Saturdays and then competing for the winter tournament on Sundays. Since my son, Aras, isn't participating this season due to conflicting activities, if anyone wants to sent me the scores, at least the top scorers, I'd be glad to print that information.
Sorry, but not much news to collect and write about this week. Beautiful blue skies during the day tease us into thinking it is spring already, but one look at the ice in the Salmon River or White Bird Creek remind us that this is the middle of winter.
Cribbage winners from Saturday were Bryan winning first and Jim winning second, with 22 players.
Happy birthday wishes to Carolyn Anderson, Jon Taylor, Cody Farmer, Grett Mullins, Chance Brumley, Blaine Sandoval, Brent Seitzel, Larry Zbinden, Tayna Schultz, Jim Weeks, Keith Ray, Emily Kernutt, Stan Wilson, Smiley and Wayne Pierstorff
