| By Mark Vanderwall GRANGEVILLE - The Bulldogs struggled again in league play, as they fell to Orofino 64-43 last Friday night. With the loss the Bulldogs drop to 0-2 in CIL play, with a couple of key league games coming up this week. Orofino held Grangeville to just six points in the third quarter, while increasing a 10-point halftime lead to 26 during that eight minute stretch. The Bulldogs did show a little sign of life with a 19-point fourth quarter, but it was too late by then. Austin Wassmuth poured in 16 points to lead Grangeville, while Nels Solberg added 12 in the loss. OROFINO (10-7, 2-1) Joey Wityczak 1 0-1 2, Brad Popoff 0 0-0 0, D.J. Garden V. 58, Salmon R. 51 RIGGINS - Salmon River gave it a great run against Garden Valley last week, but they came up just short in a 58-51 loss. The Savages played pretty well throughout the contest, but a 20-13 run by Garden Valley in the third quarter proved to be the difference in the game. Charlie Mignerey led the Savages offensively with 22 points, while Jake Mann added 19 in the loss. The Savages dropped to 1-7 in league with the loss and 3-11 overall. Fouled out - none. Potlatch 57, Kamiah 42 POTLATCH - For only the third time this season, Kamiah found themselves on the losing end of a game, falling 57-42 to Potlatch last week. The Kubs entered the contest having only lost a pair of games to Genesee, but in this game they lost the CIL league lead to the Loggers. Potlatch closed with a 29-19 run during the final 16 minutes of play, and in turn handed Kamiah their first league loss of the season. Lee Harding and Tony Tallbull had 12 points each to lead Kamiah, while Darian Ball chipped in six points. David Sigler led the Pirates with a game-high 23 points, while J.D. Reiner pulled down a season-high 20 rebounds to go with his 14 points. Corey Schaeffer also played well for Prairie, finishing with eight points, as the three combined to score 45 of Prairie's 49 points. The Rams broke a 19-19 halftime tie by outscoring the Spartans 33-25 in the second half. |
