By Mark Vanderwall KENDRICK - Morgon VanderEsch added even more ammunition to her already imprssive season for Grangeville, as the junior forward tallied a triple-double to lead the Bulldogs to a 55-45 victory over Kendrick last week. VanderEsch finished the contest with 29 points, 11 blocked shots and 10 rebounds to lead Grangeville to their 11th straight victory. Grangeville remains the top-ranked team in Idaho's Class 2A, and will open the district tournament against Orofinotonight at Booth Hall. Pam Holman and Heather Smith added eight and seven point respectively as Grangeville upped its record to 18-2 to finish the regular season. With the loss, CV will now face Prairie in the District II 1A opener at LCSC on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Despite the rough start, CV actually rallied to take a 25-24 halftime lead. Lapwai, however, made some great adjustments at intermission and outscored the Rams 42-16 in the final 16 minutes of play. Alexis Pickering led the Rams with 17 points, while Tiffany Lytle added 11 in the loss. With the loss CV fell to 4-4 in league play. With the win the Pirates improved to 6-3 in league and they will take on CV in the opening round of the District II 1A tournament Friday night at 5:30. The Pirates had similar success in the third quarter with a 16-5 run, and they were never really tested in the contest. Tiffany Schaeffer , who is starting to get healthy, led the Pirates with 14 points, while Kaylee Uhlenkott added eight in the victory. Prairie improved to 12-7 overall on the season with the win.
