RIGGINS — Riggins Elementary students would like to invite

everyone to their Christmas play tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at the SRHS multi-purpose room. Their Christmas play is sure to add joy to your Christmas season.

The Riggins Elementary students will be Christmas caroling at the Riggins businesses tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 19. Everyone is invited to be on Main Street to enjoy their joyful music. Thursday afternoon Santa will visit Riggins Elementary students during their classroom parties with an early release of school at 2 p.m.

Heartland Community Choir made up of people from Riggins and New Meadows will perform a Christmas cantata, “Silent Night, Holy Night,” Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Salmon River Community Church at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. This performance will really put you in the Christmas spirit. Heartland Community Choir will also perform the cantata Friday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center in New Meadows. The public is invited to attend.

Town lit up for contest

RIGGINS — Riggins is lit up and looking a lot like Christmas. Be sure to drive around to see the beautiful creation of lights and Christmas scenes on Main Street, way up on the hill above the Irwin Center and way down by the river at the Crump’s RV Park as well as in North Riggins, in South Riggins, north of Riggins and south of Riggins. It is a light show of love and sharing to everyone. “Light up Riggins,” contest sponsored by Two Rivers Coffee and Salmon River Chamber of Commerce. To enter the contest, just put up lights or incorporate lights in a Christmas scene and win big prizes.... first-place business $125, second-place business $75, first-place residence $125, second-place residence $75. Everyone is encouraged to vote for their favorite at one of the following Riggins businesses: Two Rivers Coffee, Idaho Banana Co., Crump’s Chevron, Summerville’s, Riggins Sterling Bank. You may vote as many times as you like, but vote only once for the same business or resident. Merry Christmas from Riggins!

The Secret Santas and all the helpers they can get will wrap the gifts today, Wednesday, Dec. 18, downstairs Summerville’s beginning at 10 a.m. and wrapping all day until finished.… no training necessary, just bring scissors and your smile and join in on the fun and wrapping.… come when you can and leave when you need to.… the more the merrier! It will be a merry Christmas kind of day!

Riggins Assembly God Church will have its traditional hourlong Christmas Eve Service Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

John Logue has been moved to Elks Rehabilitation. He is continuing to improve; he hopes to be out of the Elks Rehab Jan. 10, 2014. We will keep you updated. If you are in Boise, call the Elks Rehab to see if you can visit John even if it is not during regular visiting hours; they often make arrangements for people out of town to visit.

Congratulations to Dustin Rinker, SRHS graduate and current Carroll College football player, for being named to the NAIA All-American team as a first team running back.
