ASK, the After School Kids, Inc. program, received a new five-year grant this last summer. They currently have two ASK programs going. One program is at Riggins Elementary School with program manager, Jamie Simar; teachers, Tracy Travis and Sarah Bovey; and business manager, Rhonda Damon. ASK at the elementary is finally back into its own classroom and it’s going great! The second ASK program is located at SRHS with Susan Shepherd as the teacher for the junior high/high school program. That program is making great strides as well.

The ASK Board is currently in need of two board members. If you are interested, contact Jamie Simar. The ASK Board with program manager, Jamie Simar, meets one day a month, usually the second Monday at 5:30 p.m. for about an hour and a half. The next board meeting will be Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. in the ASK classroom. “Our program is awesome, our staff is awesome, and our board is awesome, too! We ask that you join us for at least one meeting and decide if this is workable for you,” comments Jamie Simar. At the following meeting, the board will nominate and elect you as a board member. Officer positions are filled at this time until September. Some months there are extra activities in which board members are asked to participate. The board members make cookies/treats for home football game raffles, goodies for elementary games, volunteer in the concessions for junior high/high school basketball, and other fund-raiser events like super bowl pizza making, chaperone field trips, etc.
