While snow continues to pile up at Snowhaven and Cottonwood Butte, both local ski areas need quite a bit more of the white stuff before they’ll open. For updates on conditions at these and other facilities, check online at skiidaho.us.
As of Dec. 20, the main loop and all cutoffs at Fish Creek were groomed, Forest Service trails manager Josh Lattin noted.
“Not much snow but we thought we’d run the groomer over it anyhow to try and get a good flat base for the coming storms,” he wrote in e-mail. “Turned out looking pretty nice – still some dirty spots out there but all in all it should be some pretty good skiing. ... I will try to get out a couple of times over the holidays as well – snow permitting.”
Lattin reported 15 inches “at the stick.”
