Arson investigation leads to arrest

— Athena Cunningham-Buck, 19, of Riggins has been arrested for arson in connection with a Nov. 1 house fire in Riggins.

Corporal Justin Scuka responded to a 911 report of an intentionally set fire in an occupied home in the 1300 block of North Salmon Drive on Nov. 1, at 1:45 a.m. The reporting party advised there were no injuries and the fire was out. Cpl. Scuka interviewed Cunningham-Buck and the resident, Kurt Pullen, and documented the fire damage to the stove and microwave and advised that the investigation would be continuing.

Deputy Chris Williams completed several follow up witness interviews and documented the additional locations in the household where it appeared additional fires had been attempted. On Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 Detectives Lt. Jerry Johnson and Brian Hewson interviewed Cunningham-Buck and subsequently arrested her for first degree arson.

Cunningham-Buck is being held in the Idaho County Jail on $20,000 bond.
