The second annual Riggins Firehouse Chili Cookoff was a great success! There were 21 entries of chili dishes! Winner this year was Laurie Tilton with her white chicken chili with white beans. A close second was June Whitten with Jake and River Finey taking third place, and Sherry and Doc Stolberg placing fourth. Special thanks go to Marty Clay and Susan Hollenbeak for their many hours of work. Angie Wilson of Gradient Shift created a great new design just for this year’s chili cookoff T-shirts. Riggins Fire Chief Jeff Joyce says, “This event would not have been possible without the community’s help and donations. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and attended.” Jeff added a blessing to Jack Kappas who was a fervent supporter of the Riggins Fire Department, dive team, and the whole Salmon River Canyon.
