Homecoming activities on tap at GHS

— If you see a whole school of kids with blood-drenched gauze wrapped around their heads, don’t worry. It’s just homecoming week.

Grangeville High School’s homecoming week started off Monday with fake injury day and yesterday as spy day. Today is movie genre day while Thursday is class theme day: Seniors-western, juniors-romance, sophomores-musical and freshmen-sci-fi. Friday students and the whole town are encouraged to wear blue and white and their Bulldog gear.

Tonight the powder-puff football game will be held at GHS at 6:30 p.m. with seniors and sophomores facing off and juniors and freshmen playing each other. Powder-puff volleyball is set for 8 p.m. in the GHS gym with each class having a team. Entry fee for events is $3 per person or two cans of food. All proceeds will be donated to the Camas Prairie Food Bank.

Thursday’s homecoming activities in the gym will start at 2:25 p.m. and will include cheers, announcement of Mr. and Ms. Spirit awards for each class, class marches and skits. JV football takes place in Clarkston this night.

Friday’s homecoming parade is set for 10:45 a.m. and will start at the high school, run by GEMS and down Main Street to Heritage Square. Students will return to school by noon and participate in class games including tug of war.

The Bulldogs will face Asotin with the homecoming kickoff at 7 p.m. The homecoming dance begins right after the football game ends. GHS students will be able to purchase singles tickets at the door, but there will be no admittance after 10:30 p.m. Dance concludes at midnight.
