Pirates split at Genesee
GENESEE — The Whitepine League’s premier team has run the table in six league contests thus far, including a straight-sets win over Prairie (25-12, 25-17, 25-14) last Thursday, Sept. 19.
Prairie bounced back with a narrow win over Potlatch (26-24, 25-23, 25-12).
Hailey Danly, who booked nearly four kills per game during the course of the split at Genesee, was voted “Prep Athlete of The Week” in the Lewiston Tribune’s weekly poll for her production at the Sept. 14 Grangeville Tournament.
Prairie went 7-8 at the annual “Border Battle” tournament in Pomeroy last Saturday, Sept. 21.
Up next, Prairie (10-2, 4-2 league) will host Lapwai on Thursday, Sept. 26; the Pirates are set to visit CV on Oct. 1.
GHS splits at Tri-Valley
CASCADE — Grangeville beat host Cascade (25-16, 25-9) for its 12th win of the season so far, but couldn’t avenge an early-season loss, falling 25-21, 25-21 to Tri-Valley last Thursday, Sept. 19.
Chantel Key paced the GHS attack with 3.1 kills per game. Hannah Baker (17 assists), Jacey Arnzen (100 percent on 15 serves plus two aces) and Madison Brown (8 kills) piled up solid statistics during four sets.
Up next, Grangeville (12-4) will host its first set of Central Idaho League matches starting at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 28. GHS is set to host Kamiah on Sept. 30 and Orofino on Oct. 1.
Troy tops CV, Kamiah
Troy picked up wins at CV (25-15, 25-12, 25-9) and Kamiah (25-9, 25-14, 25-10) last Thursday night, Sept. 19.
Lapwai beat CV (25-18, 25-13, 25-14) in Kooskia that night; CV beat Timberline (25-19, 25-13, 25-17) on Sept. 24.
Up next, CV will host Genesee Sept. 26, visit Highland Sept. 28 and host Prairie Oct. 1.
Kamiah will host Genesee Sept. 26 and is set to visit Grangeville on Sept. 30.
