Local golf season to open Masters Sunday

GRANGEVILLE — The Grangeville Golf and Country Club will hold its opening tournament 9 a.m. Sunday, April 13.

The tournament is open to golfers with a paid handicap and non dues paying members will pay green fees plus the entry fee.

There will be both a men's and women's division but if not enough women sign up there will be only one division, with the women given extra strokes.

The tournament will be on Masters Sunday and the format will be medal play with the a blind draw to partner with a pro playing in the Masters.

The local golfer’s score will be altered by his partner’s score in relation to par, to either add or subtract to their own score. The number of players in the tournament will decide the number of top names in the draw.

After the tournament the Masters will be on the two big screen TV's and the clubhouse will be open for food and beverages. Even if the local tournament is rained out, the lounge and restaurant will be open.
