The 23-member Grangeville High School Varsity Blue Choir recently spent two days touring the Treasure Valley.

The choir attended class at Borah High School, doing a choral exchange with both the Borah Select and Men’s Choirs under the direction of Heather Prinzing. Following the Borah rehearsal, the choir traveled to Nampa to work with Dr. Judy Marlett, director of Choral Studies at Northwest Nazarene University. Marlett spent time working with the choir on several competition pieces as well as discussing numerous styles of choral music. Finally, the choir returned to Boise to perform at St. Mark’s Cathedral, one of two buildings in the state of Idaho with perfect acoustics, the other being the state capitol rotunda. Cathedral director Mike Kurdy gave the choir a tour and background history of the cathedral, pointing out the art and architectural highlights. The choir sang for 45 minutes, performing both accompanied and a cappella selections.

The choir is accompanied by Chris Rogers, directed by Kathy Stefani.
