Little Salmon access leased; long-term deal in the works

RIGGINS — An agreement forged by Idaho Department of Fish and Game staff and the local landowner is set to maintain access to popular fishing holes.

All property on both sides of the Little Salmon from its confluence with Rapid River downstream to milepost 193 is private; an 18-month west bank lease announced April 14 provides: Only fishing allowed, and only 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; no camping or campfires; no garbage service (anglers pack out all trash); limited wading (trespass signs posted); no east bank access; no watercraft launch; no shooting; no commercial use.

IDFG and the Idaho County Sheriff’s office will be patrolling the area.

IDFG urges anglers to police themselves as it works “to develop a far-reaching agreement.”
