Idaho leaders of out touch with Idaho; time to clean house

Letter: Jon Menough, Ph.D. P.E. Elk City

It’s spring.  Housecleaning time – particularly in Boise.

Current leaders in Boise seem to have forgotten that they work for us – we are their employer. They seem to think that they work to make Washington, D.C., bureaucrats and other out-of-state interests happy. So, instead of preventing the implementation of Obamacare in this state and stopping the implementation of Common Core in our schools, they have allowed these diseases to infect our state. They also seem to believe it’s OK to use funds from the Idaho Department of Lands to purchase and operate businesses that compete in the private sector. And rather than insist on controlling our land and our future from Idaho, they seem to be satisfied with continuing to suck off the Washington, D.C., teat to fund our needs in Idaho, even when they know those funds are drying up.

The current crop of leaders in Boise is totally out of touch with Idaho. They need to be replaced. Let’s give them their walking papers – before November – in the Republican Primary and elect Russ Fulcher as the candidate for governor; Jim Chmelik as the candidate for lt. governor; John Eynon as Superintendent of Public Instruction; Todd Hatfield as state controller; Christ Troupis as attorney general; and Lawrence Denney as secretary of state. This group – Fulcher, Chmelik, Eynon, Hatfield, Troupis, and Denney – have the true spirit of Idaho: honor, independence, and loyalty to the people of Idaho.
