KAMIAH — The Gold Trail Wranglers Riding Club held royalty try-outs Sunday, April 27, at the rodeo grounds in Kamiah. Due to the rainy conditions, the try-outs were conducted in the grassy area in front of the clubhouse.
Contestants were to answer questions and ride a pattern demonstrated this year by 2013 Queen, Victoria Hunter. Sandy Carter of Kamiah served as the 2013 Princess.
One contestant tried out this year: Kasey Blair of Kamiah, who rode her horse Pixie. She is the daughter of Hulan (Tex) and Marilyn Blair. She is in the eighth grade and participates in track and other sports, is involved in 4-H and enjoys babysitting. She has two brothers, Bryce and Ryan, and she and her family have been Gold Trail Wranglers members for the past couple of years.
An O-Mok-See was scheduled for the day but was cancelled due to wet conditions. This has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 4. Sign-up will be at 9:30 a.m., and the games will begin at 10 a.m. Games will include barrels, poles, California stake for little riders, two-stake, keyhole and team events. Cost is $15 for the day or $5 per event. There is a family discount for two or more family members living in the same household.
