Prairie’s Krystin Uhlenkott received the hand-off from Shayla Vonbargen a few strides earlier than Troy’s 4x100 anchor and added a couple of strides to the Pirates’ lead at the finish at the Whitepine League championships last Monday night, April 28, at Lapwai. Along with Keely Schmidt and Mykaela McWilliams, Vonbargen and Uhlenkott combined to post a 53.09 hand time, which — even with a quarter-second added on for comparison to fully automatic times — was the second-fastest reported by a 1A girls squadron yet this year.
