Everyone loves results

Unintended results are usually a bummer. In the pharmaceutical world they would call these “side effects.” I am sure a lot of you are like me when you hear some of those drug commercials on TV .... the side effects sound worse than the disease! If we are not careful we can be too shortsighted, make the wrong choice, and get a truck load of unintended results. What seemed like a good idea at the time can end up being surprisingly destructive.

I have seen husbands who are looking for a good result in their marriage, act and talk in ways that give them the exact opposite results they were after. Parents, employees, young people and most all of us, end up doing this at times. Getting better results is possible for us. We have to be a little more intentional. We have to be a little more aware and alert if we are going to get the better results. I love the Parable of the Sower that Jesus taught us. The seed is designed to get good results. It is full of potential. There are some threats to its potential but that shouldn’t be our focus. We can’t play defense all the time and get good results. We can’t operate out of fear and negativity and get good results. If we can just get the seed planted in good soil it will produce amazing results. It can produce a little, a lot, or a huge bumper crop! It is really pretty easy. The seed is God’s Word and it has amazing potential to produce results we want in our life. The ground is our life or our heart. We get to choose what kind of soil God’s Word gets planted in. Pull the weeds out of your heart, don’t allow just anything to grow there. Dislodge the rocks and remove them; let go and forgive. Be more intentional about taking care of your soil and getting the good seed in there. Then watch the results you love come shooting up out of your life and your world. Make sure to do the things that will give you the results you really want.
