Bruner nabs top honor

Jake Bruner keyed Prairie’s potent offense and dominant defense and for the effort was named 1A “player of the year” by the Idaho Statesman last Sunday, Dec. 13.

Prairie put the ball in his hands in both running and passing situations, with good reason: nearly a third of the times he ran, the Pirates scored. Bruner completed two-thirds of his pass attempts and a third of his completions went for touchdowns. In all, he had a hand in 54 PHS touchdowns.

Hunter McWilliams, Rhett Schlader and John Mager were named to the first-team offense, while Lucas Arnzen, Calvin Hinkelman and Mason Dalgliesh were named to the first-team defense.

Isaiah Shears was named to the first-team defense and the second-team offense.

Kamiah’s Lars Kludt was named an all-state second-teamer on both offensive and defensive line.
