RIGGINS — Our Riggins Post Office is holding a Christmas coloring contest for kids up to 12… and decorating the post office with the beautifully colored papers. Kids or parents or teachers may pick up the coloring papers at the post office. All finished papers must be returned to the post office by Saturday, Dec. 20, but can be returned sooner to help make the post office colorful and bright. RIGGINS — The “Gift of Music” will celebrate the holiday season with a free music event for the whole community at the Salmon Rapids Lodge’s Big Salmon River Room this Saturday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. (MST) with a music performance by Hotwire. Hotwire features an ear-grabbing mix of old-style bluegrass, newgrass, country, folk and acoustic genres that are hard to pin down — delivered with a hard driving energy that they call “high-voltage bluegrass.” Refreshments will be served. Special room rates are available to guests with advance reservation. Salmon Rapids Lodge is located at 1010 S. Main Street in Riggins. For information call the lodge toll-free at 877-957-2743, local at 628-2743, or visit the website at www.salmonrapids.com.

Riggins Elementary School will present its annual Christmas program tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. at SRHS multipurpose room. ASK music recital will follow the elementary program. All the kids are getting ready to share a wonderful night of music to help you celebrate this Christmas season.

Christmas caroling by the Riggins Elementary kids will be heard right on Riggins Main Street tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 18. Be out and about to hear them singing and wishing you a Merry Christmas. The elementary students will have a special visit and Christmas parties Thursday, Dec. 18, before early dismissal. All Salmon River students will have early dismissal Thursday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. for Christmas vacation… they will return to school Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.

However you plan to see the old year out and bring the New Year in, I want to wish you a wonderful Christmas vacation and a happy New Year 2015!
