As a father, community member, taxpayer, and someone who loves living in Kamiah, I am proud to say I will be voting “yes” for the upcoming school levy on March 11.
Like most people, I am disgusted by the lack of money and support our federal and state governments give to our schools. It seems more and more of the burden falls on us, the taxpayers, to carry the load. However, all of our neighboring communities, such as Orofino, Grangeville, Cottonwood, Nezperce, etc., have made the commitment to step up and shoulder the burden for their kids and their community. In Kamiah, we have been lucky enough to have been able to get by without passing a levy for quite some time. That time is now over, and we have to step like all of our neighbors, come together as a community, and pass this levy for our kids. It is not only our responsibility, but also our privilege to make sure that these children are provided the best education we can give them.
Over the years, I have seen what Kamiah can do when put to the test, such as saving the pool with the crab feed, and I know that we will respond in true Kub colors. Let’s all step up on March 11 for our schools, our community, and our pride and vote “yes” for Kamiah!
