No difference with Democrats, GOP

Letter: Floyd Whitley, Cottonwood

How far does clone experimentation go? One wonders given Idaho’s Frankenstein results of late. Take Mr. Kerry, part time Sun Valley vacationer. The 2004 presidential pretender made one of those pithy statements he is noted for…. ”I voted for it, before I was against it.”

Here we have Idaho Republicans doing their best to clone Mr. Kerry. Take Mr. Fulcher, pretender to the governorship… or for that matter state senators Steven Thayne or Sheryl Nuxoll… the entire Republican slate. They were for Common Core, before they were against it… now that Idaho’s electorate has risen in protest to the rotten fruit Republican clones would force feed to Idaho parents, teachers and students.

“It’s alive!” — this mindless creature of Republican experimentation in public institutional genetics. Cloning? Ah, the duopoly’s consanguinity is so inseparable that now, truthfully, no discernible difference exists between Democrat and Republican. Take Mr. Obama. At Monticello (no doubt with his foot respectfully upon Mr. Jefferson’s desk) he declared with Mr. Hollande of France: “That’s the good thing as a president. I can do whatever I want.” What arrogance!

Yet closer to home, Mr. Chmelik, erstwhile Idaho County Commissioner (though difficult to tell given his insatiable ambitions elsewhere) declared only a year ago that commissioners were free to join any organization they want… and use public monies to do so.

Mr. Obama has his attorney general. Mr. Chmelik has his county attorney. Thus, both rewrite laws and duties to suit personal arrogance and ambition. Ethical questions are superfluous. For theirs is a grand experiment. Mr. Obama need not bother with the Constitution or Declaration of Independence as he casually grinds his foot into the mahogany. Nor does Mr. Chmelik. Idaho Constitution? Bah! Strict accountability of public funds under Idaho Code? Legal requirement of due diligence and licensure before public expenditure? Humbug! Legal demands that commissioners have no direct, or indirect, interest in county contracts? That the whole be transparent? They can do what they want… in the dungeon dark.

So it is with the genetics of arrogance. It would pass off Frankenstein as a model elected official tiptoeing through Tiny Tim’s tulips.

Floyd Whitley
