SMHF plans Mardi Gras event

COTTONWOOD — The St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Mardi Gras committee has been hard at work planning the annual Mardi Gras event set for Saturday, March 22, at the Cottonwood Community Hall. This will begin at 5 p.m., with a social hour followed by dinner, silent and live auctions, dancing and casino games. The dress for this event is dressy casual to semi-formal.

“I am really excited about this event,” said Cheri Holthaus, development coordinator for St. Mary’s Hospital. “We have some great items to auction off including U of I football tickets, Silverwood tickets, tickets to a Spokane Shocks game, Elk Feeding and Ashley Inn Package, handcrafted items, and much more.”

Tickets are $35 each and are available at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Cottonwood Clinic or by calling Holthaus at 962-2327. There is a limited number of tickets being sold.

The meal which is being catered by A Taste of Art will consist of steak gorgonzola served with trotol alfredo, mixed salad with roasted walnuts and cranberries, green beans sautéed with jalapeño bacon and a variety of dessert shooters.

“Proceeds will go toward the remodeling of the emergency room at St. Mary’s Hospital,” commented Holthaus. “It may take several years to earn enough money to begin let alone complete this project, but we are hoping for a successful event which will enable us to contribute a nice sum of money to this very worthwhile project.”
