GRANGEVILLE Do you have a memory of Syringa Hospital to share?
A committee of volunteers is currently working on a book for the 75th anniversary of the hospital this year.
“We’re looking at organizing history by decades and volunteers have each taken a decade,” explained community relations coordinator, Robyn Crosby.
Volunteers, including editor Dixie Johnson, are currently researching using archived information and have begun to write down information and scan in photos.
“As we move through this process, people are coming up with great anecdotal stories,” Crosby added. “We don’t want to miss any funny or interesting stories so we are putting out the call for anyone who has stories or photos so please get them to us.”
In addition to volunteers, Mary Jahn of Jahn Studios has been hired for layout and design purposes.
“Mary has offered her services at a 75 percent discount and we are really pleased with that as she brings to the table a great deal of expertise to make the project look professional,” said Syringa CEO Joe Cladouhos. Syringa Hospital Auxiliary has provided seed money for the project, Cladouhos said, but he hopes any future book/CD sales of the project will offset these funds.
To submit information e-mail Crosby at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 983-8571.
“They may also drop photos and stories off at the hospital reception desk. They should include an envelope with the photo with their name and address on it and they should also put their name on the photo to be returned,” she added. “We will try to return photos within two weeks.”
The book will likely be paperback but number of pages depends upon number of items researched and submitted. Distribution of the book is still in the planning phase but is planned for distribution in the fall.
