RIGGINS — The Riggins Dribble Team coached by Paula Shepherd performed a new routine at halftime of the Salmon River Savage basketball game. The Dribble Team of girls is made up of Sierra Bovey, Lotus Harper, Payton Branstetter, Sarah Laritz, Chevelle Shepherd, Miranda Hofflander, Sofie Branstetter, Jordyn Pottenger and Tylynn Tucker. This team is amazing…the girls dribble basketballs and dance to the beat of the music. You have to see this! They will be performing again this weekend.
Salmon River Savages had another winning weekend beating both Tri-Valley and Garden Valley. The mighty Savages will play two home games this weekend with Horseshoe Bend Friday, Jan. 24, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. and Genesee Saturday, Jan. 25, at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Get on up to the high school and support our basketballs boys and the girls dribble team.
Mr. Lunceford now has a math lab after school from 4-5 p.m. Students needing extra help in any grade can attend. Mr. Lunceford would also like students in algebra II or higher to be mentors who will earn volunteer hours for National Honor Society, for example.
Congratulations to Chevelle Shepherd on winning the Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest in Grangeville last weekend. Chevelle shot 18 of 25 and was the best overall shooter in her age group for boys and girls. Lotus Harper and Tazyrae Dischinger also placed. Good luck in Lewiston, Lotus, Tazyrae and Chevelle!
Riggins Fire Chief Jeff Joyce will be in charge of the fireworks show in April during the jet boat races which are April 18-20. Look for donation jars around town to help fund the fireworks.
Buck’s mom, Marge Fitch, died Sunday, Jan. 19, with her family around her. Marge was 96 and lived a full life. She was able to tell each of us, “I love you the most.” We miss her so much, but are happy for her, too. Services will be held for her at a later date this spring. See complete obituary in the Free Press.
Valentine’s Day is coming soon. Treat your sweetheart lovingly with a gift and a card from one of our many stores in Riggins.
