The Idaho Fish and Game Commission on Thursday, Jan. 16 set the 2014 and 2015 upland game, turkey and furbearer seasons and rules.
The Commission delayed their decision on two trapping season proposals: changes to Idaho’s reciprocal agreement with other states and the reduction of the statewide bobcat trapping season length. Commissioners requested additional information and time to review the public comments. The Commission will re-evaluate the information at their March meeting.
The commissioners approved changes to turkey, upland game and furbearer rules, including: a beaver trapping closure and exception in Nez Perce County; a clarification that corporate timber lands are not considered private lands for the purposes of fall turkey general hunt (late season only) in units 8, 8A, 10A, 11, 11A, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18, which runs Nov. 21 - Dec. 31 and is open on private land only.
The changes will appear in the Upland Game, Furbearer and Turkey rules book available mid-February at Fish and Game offices and license vendors. The 2014 spring turkey information, including controlled hunts, is available online now at fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/hunt/rules/?getPage=67. The list of changes includes changes in other regions; the list is available online at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/media/viewNewsRelease.cfm?newsID=6961
