Disorderly man shot in foot by civilian
OROFINO — A civilian shot Derek Harroun in the foot before Harroun was arrested for aggravated assault and driving under the influence according to Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at 1:44 a.m. near Elk River July 5. According to the CCSO report the initial confrontation escalated after Harroun’s truck became stuck in the mud.
Harroun was shot during the commission of crimes for which he was eventually arrested.

One pilot dies, another survives
McCALL — A pilot of one plane died but the pilot of a second plane managed to land safely after a mid-air collision near a backcountry airstrip in Valley County Monday morning, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The identity of the dead pilot had not been confirmed as of Wednesday, Valley County Coroner Nate Hess said.
The surviving pilot, Amy Hoover, 52, of Ellensburg, Wash., managed to land her airplane and escape injury.

Meadows Valley residents react
MEADOWS VALLEY — A group of 75 Meadows Valley residents met at the P&IN depot last Thursday evening to gather information and rally opposition to a gravel pit that the Idaho Transportation Department has on the drawing board.
“It compromises everything of value that we have in this valley,” said long-time resident Marla Krigbaum who lives near where the proposed gravel pit would be established.
