North Carolina man dies Monday in crash at Powell

POWELL – A North Carolina motorcyclist died Monday afternoon after losing control on U.S. Highway 12 west of Powell.

Kent Skoug, 67, of Arden, died at the scene of injuries suffered in the July 14 crash, according to Idaho State Police. He was wearing a helmet.

The incident was reported at 3:12 p.m., milepost 161.3. Skoug was traveling eastbound on a 2001 BMW motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a slight left-hand curve. The bike drove off the right shoulder into gravel and struck a tree.

ISP was assisted on scene by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Transportation Department. Jackson’s Towing provided wrecker services. Trenary’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Saturday accident at Kooskia claims Priest River woman

KOOSKIA – A Priest River woman died in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 12 at Kooskia last Saturday, July 12.

The crash was reported at 3:44 p.m., milepost 75.6, according to Idaho State Police. Melody R. Edwards, 58, was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson westbound when she came around a corner, drifted off the right shoulder and lost control of her motorcycle. Edwards, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash.

ISP was assisted at the scene by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Kooskia Ambulance. B&B Towing provided wrecker services.
