Horse show draws 34 participants

GRANGEVILLE — The 2014 Idaho County 4-H Horse Show was held Saturday, July 26, at the Grangeville Border Days Arena with 34 4-H members participating in the show to complete their 4-H projects. Judges for the show were Bobbie Chambers of Cottonwood and Kim Bixby of Grangeville. Jill VonBargen of Nezperce was the trail class judge.

4-H members competed in fitting and showing, Western, English, and bareback equitation, and hunter/jumper as well as a trail class course and western games. All competing 4-H’ers were awarded blue, red, or white ribbons. Following is a list of grand champion and reserve champion awards:

Fitting & Showing: Junior champion Tori Miller and reserve Dani Aiken; Intermediate champion: Nichole Blackmer and reserve Rachel Kelley.

Bareback Equitation: Junior champion Dani Aiken and reserve Kendal Wynott; intermediate champion Molly Van Steenwyk and reserve Nicole Poxleitner.

Western Equitation: Junior champion Dani Aiken and reserve Emmy Williams; intermediate champion Nicole Poxleitner and reserve Colby Canaday.

Over-all Western Equitation: Grand Champion Nicole Poxleitner and reserve Dani Aiken.

Hunt Seat Equitation: Intermediate champion: Molly Van Steenwyk and reserve: Nicole Poxleitner.

Hunter / Jumper: Intermediate champion Molly Van Steenwyk.

Green Horse Equitation professionally trained horse: Intermediate champion Jade Dutcher.

Trail Class: Junior champion Dani Aiken and reserve Naomi Connelley; Intermediate champion Nichole Blackmer and reserve Nicole Poxleitner.

Horse Judging Contest: Top junior Santana Simmons and top Intermediate Colby Canaday.

Horse Bowl Team: Senior team Paige Lindsley, Nichole Blackmer, Lauren Goldman and Rachael Stevens. Junior team Aiden Acton, Clarrissa Stevens, Molly Van Steenwyk, Tristan Yocum, and alternate Tobie Paige Yocum.

Western Games Division

Flag Race: Junior champion Dani Aiken and reserve Jordyn Pottenger; intermediate champion Colby Canaday and reserve Molly Van Steenwyk.

Keyhole Race: Junior Champion: Dani Aiken and reserve Tori Miller; intermediate champion Colby Canaday and reserve Molly Van Steenwyk.
