Comment due June 16 on wastewater draft permit

COTTONWOOD — Public comment is due by June 16 to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) on a draft wastewater reuse permit renewal for the City of Cottonwood.

The permit authorizes the city to continue operating a wastewater treatment facility and reuse land application site for another six years. It allows treated wastewater to be used for irrigation of crops during growing and non-growing seasons.

As part of the permitting process, the city is required to show how it will continue to address health and environmental concerns, including methods of preventing contamination of surface and ground water.
