COTTONWOOD — The Idaho County Fair Royalty committee is seeking young ladies ages 14 to 18 interested in participating in the 2015 royalty program. Girls must be going into their sophomore through senior years of high school and be available through the completion of the fair. Deadline for applicants is June 30. Rules/regulations are as follows:

•The competition includes a contestant picnic sponsored by the 2014 royalty set for July 15, a catered luncheon set for July 29, and participation in the fashion show on Aug. 20, and the crowning on Aug. 22nd; all contestants are required to attend each one of these events.

•During the luncheon on July 29, participants are asked to give a two-to-three minute speech and will have a personal interview with three judges from outside Idaho County. Candidates must complete an application which is part of the judging, write and present their speech, and be interviewed.

The event is open to all young ladies age 14 to 18 in Idaho County or those who participate in Idaho County 4-H; however it is not just for those involved in 4-H. This is a county scholarship program for young ladies who are active in their communities. All candidates do need to have at least two years of experience with the fair either through 4-H or through entries in open class.

•The queen is awarded a $400 scholarship and each princess is awarded $300. There is also an expense account to help with clothing, float and other costs during their reign.

Royalty applications can be picked up at the Idaho County Extension office located in the Idaho County Court House or by calling Idaho County Fair Royalty advisors; Cheri Holthaus at 962-5433 or Collette Schaeffer at 816-1872. Applications can be dropped off at the Extension office or mailed to Cheri Holthaus; PO Box 423; Cottonwood Idaho 83522. All applications are due by June 30.
