Nez Perce-Clearwater forests open personal use firewood areas

Several forest roads are open to the public on the Salmon River and Red River ranger districts through Aug. 22 for personal use firewood gathering. A personal use firewood permit is required and all conditions of the permit apply. Vehicles must remain within the road right of way and use a maximum of 100 feet of cable for skidding.

The following road systems are open: Forest Roads 1875, 9454, 9824 and 9829 in the Twenty Mile-Rainy Day Point areas; the Wheeler Mountain Road 9803, Dutch Oven Creek Road 9815, and Moose Butte Road 1150 in the Elk City area.
