Community invited to GHS drug-free program

Event set for Thursday, March 20

GRANGEVILLE — An interactive video and a group discussion will be part of the Idaho Drug Free Youth’s i2i event set for Thursday, March 20, 6:30 p.m., at the Grangeville High School cafeteria.

“We recently became our own club here at GHS and Mr. Elven is our advisor,” explained student organizer Lily Willig.

Teens, parents, grandparents and all adults in the community are encouraged to attend the event which is relevant for students in fifth through 12th grade.

The program will last approximately 45 minutes and will focus on the prevention of underage drinking. Participants will hear True Confessions from Idaho Teens regarding their thoughts and beliefs on underage drinking.

Those attending will also learn the number one predictor of underage drinking, what alcohol does to the teen brain and alternative activities for students.

“We hope to have a good turnout and invite everyone to attend,” Willig added.

Students currently participating in the club include Willig, Darby Finnegan, Emily Kaschmitter, Zach Stinnett, Seth Bartlett, Jolene Chmelik, Ben Lothspeich, Carly Kilmar, Cody Frei, Colton Cervantes, Kalela Bass and Grace Seo.
