Public wastewater improvement projects in Stites and White Bird are among 17 proposals seeking funding through the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.
Public comment on these projects will be accepted through April 21, which will be used by the agency in ranking priority projects for approval in May.
The City of Stites is seeking $1,417,560 to improve its wastewater collection system and add an aeration chamber to its treatment facility. The project is ranked 16th overall.
The City of White Bird is seeking $837,000 to improve wastewater treatment and reduce collection line leakage. Part of this total, $418,500 would go for high-efficiency motors and pumps, and water conserving reuse procedures. The project is ranked 15th overall.
Overall, the 17 wastewater projects are requesting a total $69 million; however, DEQ has only $35 million available in this category for loan funding.
