KOOSKIA — A variety of events and presentations will be sponsored by the Friends of the Kooskia Community Library. Events include the following:
• Saturday, April 12, Priscilla Wegars will presents “As Rugged as the Terrain.” This presentation explores Idaho history that took place at Canyon Creek on the Lochsa River, from 1933-43. This is set for 1 p.m., in the Kooskia Community Library.
•Saturday, May 10, is the date for the Spring Book Sale. Used books of all kinds, as well as CDs and DVD, will be available at bargain prices. To donate drop books off at the Kooskia Community Library during business hours. No magazines or VHS tapes. All proceeds benefit the Kooskia Community Library. The sale is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kooskia Community Center.
•Friday, May 23, “Clearwater Wonder Tales” will be presented. Idaho Writer in Residence, Joy Steiner, will spend the week of May 19-23, teaching CVES students how to craft natural history stories. A library program is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Kooskia Community Library.
•Story Hour for young children continues weekly, Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to noon.
•Summer Reading Program, “Fizz, Boom, Read!” is being organized by librarian Dena Puderbaugh. Stay tuned in the coming months for information.
•Student scholarships are available for “Writers at Harriman.” Friends of the Kooskia Community Library will offer two scholarships to attend “Writers at Harriman,” Aug. 3-9. This is a weeklong residential writing camp where students work with professionals along with other students from Idaho. This will be offered to students who are currently enrolled in 11th or 12th grades, who attend CVHS as well as students who are in an alternative educational program within the Clearwater Valley school district.
