Your editorial [May 7 issue] about the district judge’s race properly notes that “if you can catch a candidate at a local forum, that’s really the best option to measure up these men.” You then implicitly endorse Jeff Brudie because, as you say, “he’s the only one in the Second Judicial races so far we’ve seen who has made public appearances before voters of Idaho County.” On that score you are dead wrong. The reason I wasn’t at the May 3 forum at the Grangeville Senior Center is that I wasn’t told about it or invited to it. Had I known about it I would have been there.
As to public appearances in Idaho County, I spent the entire day of April in Grangeville. I visited the downtown businesses, spoke with the senior citizens at the seniors’ lunch site and paid a courtesy visit to the Idaho County Free Press where I dropped off a card with your receptionist. In addition I have visited Cottonwood, White Bird, Stites, Riggins and Kooskia. This last Wednesday I attended the candidate forum at Kamiah where Idaho and Lewis county candidates and both judicial candidates were invited. I was there. Brudie was not. David Rauzi was not.... Which raises the question, where has Dave Rauzi been during this campaign?
