KOOSKIA — Two full scholarships are available to Clearwater Valley High School students as well as students who are in an alternative educational program within the Clearwater Valley school district to attend Writers @ Harriman.
The writing workshop is a one-week residential camp for high school students who like to explore their imaginations. It is held at Harriman State Park of Idaho between Ashton and Island Park from Aug. 3-9. The scholarships are being offered by Friends of the Kooskia Community Library.
Students will experience nature’s beauty and solitude first-hand, fill their notebooks with fresh ideas, and try new writing styles. They will work in small groups with professional teaching writers and share their work with peers. In addition, they will explore the trails and meadows of Idaho’s outdoor classroom, Harriman State Park. Optional workshops include watercolors, storytelling, hand-bound books and drawing. Students will present their work to an audience of friends and family and publish their best writing in Henry’s Fork Journal.
Application deadline is June 15. To apply, visit writersatharriman.org and apply online. Direct questions to firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 505-795-9960.
