Thursday crash, cab fire claim life of truck driver

Victim identification is pending following Thursday night’s fatal semi-truck accident near the White Bird summit on U.S. Highway 95.

Idaho State Police reports the 2013 Volvo semi and trailer were northbound on the White Bird grade, and near the top the vehicle struck the guardrail and went off the right shoulder. The truck cab shortly became engulfed in flames. The driver succumbed to his injuries.

The incident was reported at 8:37 p.m. May 15 at milepost 230.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Grangeville Rural Fire Department, Syringa Ambulance and Idaho Transportation Department assisted at the scene. Forest Wrecker provided vehicle recovery services.
