Road Work

Dust abatement project planned for Selway River roads starting May 21

Beginning May 21, three roads on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests’ Moose Creek Ranger District will undergo dust abatement. The work will temporarily impact travel on an 11-mile segment of Selway River Road 223, from milepost 7 to 18.7. The first four miles of Hamby Fork Road 651, from milepost 0 to 4, and a short stretch of American River-Selway Road, milepost 0 to 1.6, are also included in the project.

All three roads will remain open, but motorists can expect increased truck traffic, and heavy equipment might block the roadways from time to time. Magnesium chloride will be applied to road surfaces to combat excess soil dust, and each road will receive a fresh coat of oil.  Drivers are asked to slow down and proceed carefully near the job sites. The work should last just three days, through May 23.
