How long can the population increase continue in U.S.?

Letter: Bob Walker Grangeville

Attention hunters: Seems like it’s getting a little more crowded out there in the woods every year. Here’s some numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau that might explain that.

Our U.S. population is increasing by about 4 million per year ….that’s 11,000 per day (do the math). About 8,000 of that 11,000 per day is birthrate. The other 3,000 per day is legal immigration. (The Census Bureau doesn’t include illegal immigration so those numbers would add to that 11,000 per day!). And any average couple having more than one child is actually causing a net increase in our population ….mostly due to our average lifespan’s drastic increase in just the last 40 years.

So our U.S. population is now doubling every 80 years! How long can this go on and to what cost to any quality of life?

Even most birds and animals know better than to foul their own nests!
