COTTONWOOD — The Cottonwood School District will present a program for veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. in the Prairie Jr./Sr. High School gym. All veterans and their families are invited. Parents and the public are welcome to attend also. Harold Schacher will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award, and several Quilts of Valor will be presented to local veterans. Jalisa Wright Hammond will be speaking to honor her brother, Randal Wright. Marine Lance Corporal Randal Wright was injured and disabled in the line of duty in Afghanistan. Both Jalisa and her brother graduated from Prairie a few years ago. We will also have a slide show to honor all of our veterans. We do have a collection of pictures from previous years. If you haven’t done so already, send or e-mail a picture of a veteran in your family, or a veteran friend of your family to Mrs. Karel at email@example.com. We need all the pictures sent before Nov. 7 in order to put them into the slide show. During the program we will have all veterans introduce themselves. Feel free to share this invitation with any veteran that you might know. Hope to see you there! Thank you Veterans for freedom in the USA! Make sure to treat your vets to something special to show them that we appreciate all they have done for our country.
Winners for the food and drinks for Bräts & Brew Fest were: Denis Duman with his cheddar German sausage, Neil Wassmuth with L & N hard cider, Jean Anglen with her cheesey scalloped reds, Sister Chanelle Schuler with her brat sticks and Jean Anglen with her sweet and spicy harvest surprise dessert. Congratulations to all the winners.
Ingrid Mader won the 50-50 drawing and everyone who bought wine corks was a winner because they all went home with a nice bottle of wine. Lorraine Nuxoll and girls did a fantastic job of decorating.
