WHITE BIRD — One more month of our lives gone with the wind. I hope you made some good memories, because these days are flying by faster than a hurricane.
The town was full of fun and great costumes for the Halloween holiday. Both bars were full of crazy people dressed up in super, creative outfits. There are pictures on Facebook. Check them out. I caught some of the kids trick-or-treating, way too early and I asked them why. Well, did you know that if you go early, you can go home, put on another costume and go again? Only in White Bird.
There was a group of 35 people who all joined together at the school for a potluck last Sunday. There was tons of wonderful food, and you should’ve been there. It was nice to just sit around and visit with each other. I hope that it was just the first of many, many community potlucks to come. We all had a nice conversation about all the things we can do if our community acquires the school property. I’m writing this before the election, so by the time this article comes out, our fate will already be determined. I’m hopeful that it passed. If it didn’t, then you won’t like next week’s column.
There was a huge celebration for the life of Joe Wilson at Hoot’s last Saturday. More than 200 people showed up to pay their respects for a man who has supported, fought for, loved and helped out so many people. Joe was a beautiful soul and everyone who knew him was blessed for it. We will miss you, Joe. I hope you and Ada are doing a jig together in heaven, still keeping an eye out for the ones you left behind.
We can now look forward to the annual bingo and turkey dinner that the Rebekahs put on every year. It’s right around the corner. It will be on Nov. 16. Bingo starts at 10 a.m. and dinner starts at noon. The best turkey dinner you’ll ever eat. Fun, fun, fun!
The cribbage tournament at the Silver Dollar last Saturday brought in 16 players. Andy took first and Janice Ann got second. Join in the fun next Saturday at 2 p.m., everyone is welcome.
Happy birthday this week to: Ann Clark, Casie Hart, Cassie Chandler, Emily Bunting, Bonnie Asker, Abby Moline, Travis Johnson, Heather Cullin, Cole Moline, Frankie Randall, Starla Liggins, Matthew Fehrenkamp and Cleo.
