David Rauzi missed it completely. Casey Drews and Ken Meyers did what they said they would do and acted, not with laziness but with clarity of thought and political choice. As Lucky Brandt explains in his recent letter to the editor, it is Party that matters. No matter how hard a candidate runs, how good or poor a choice, how effective a candidate will be in office; no matter what a candidate says or does; no matter..... In Idaho County, it IS Party. That is the choice that Ken and Casey provided to the voters – a choice for straight ticket party voters to make. Let Democrats define and live with the political strategies they choose without the name-calling. Be critical of your own party as most of the Republican candidates appear to me to just phone-it-in.
I appreciate Casey Drews and Ken Meyers for taking the stand so that voters had a choice in this last election. Many who would take the time to look at the Idaho State Democratic Party Platform (2 pages) and the Idaho State Republican Platform (repeal the 17th Amendment) would vote for Casey Drews and Ken Meyers because they would be better represented by people who shared their values in the State Legislature. However, since most Idaho County voters have read neither platform for themselves, a party choice is all that is needed to guide voting. Thank you Casey Drews, Ken Meyers, and Jessica Chilcott for running as Democrats in this county. You gave uninformed Idaho County voters a choice in this election to have both sides of a straight party-line ballot. I encourage everyone to get involved in the political process and support elected officials who will do the work. Casey Drews and Ken Meyers are and have been involved and informed and wanted Idaho County voters to have this choice.
